Meet Dr. Magdalena J. Fosse
A highly personalized, integrative approach to your individual and relational well-being, rooted in deep intimacy and positive sexuality.

I work with individuals and couples in all types of relational constellations from monogamous to polyamorous. My clients are of many races and ethnicities and range from straight to gay, bisexual, pansexual, kinky, asexual, transgender, nonconforming, questioning, and seeking. I also offer support services for people who seek to expand their consciousness through psychedelic medicine.
In addition to being a psychotherapist, I am an author, educator, and consultant. My expertise is in polyamory and consensual nonmonogamy, with published work, speaking engagements, and consultation services reflecting this interest. I am the current president of the Psychodynamic Couple and Family Institute of New England where I also teach on sexuality and couple therapy.
My personal and educational background is diverse and multicultural. I have lived and studied in Poland, Norway, and the US, and am fluent in all three languages. Finding my place of belonging in different cultures taught me the importance of staying open and flexible. My psychotherapeutic approach reflects this experience. Just like one size does not fit all, one mode of therapy is not going to work for everyone. In my work, I integrate the following modalities:
Psychodynamic thinking is the best framework we have thus far for understanding human nature.
Attachment theories provide a way to illuminate our relational challenges and opportunities.
Interpersonal neurobiology explains how brain, mind, and relational experiences interact to shape a person.
Gestalt therapy is the genesis for a broad array of experiential therapeutic approaches.
Sex therapy is a discipline that reflects our vast knowledge and expression of human sexuality.
Psycho-spirituality connects conventional therapy to the knowledge of the psychedelic plants, which have the power to alter the conscious experience.
Mindfulness and meditation are time-tested practices for stress reduction and personal growth.
Somatic awareness is a tool that helps you to tap into the wisdom of the body.
Cognitive-behavioral strategies and skills are the tools to modify thinking and behaviors.

A Compassionate, Multicultural Perspective Finding the right therapist is a deeply personal journey. I believe that an effective therapeutic relationship is built on a foundation of profound empathy, flexibility, and a deep respect for each client’s unique background. My own personal and educational background is diverse and multicultural; having lived and studied in Poland, Norway, and the United States, I am fluent in all three languages. Finding my place of belonging across different cultures has taught me the importance of staying open-minded—a philosophy that directly informs my psychotherapeutic approach.
Clinical Expertise & Inclusive Care As a clinical psychologist, couple counselor, and AASECT-certified sex therapist, it is my privilege to help you build a stronger relationship with yourself and others. I work with individuals and couples across all relational constellations, from traditional monogamy to polyamory and consensual non-monogamy (CNM). My practice is proudly inclusive, serving clients of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities, including those who are straight, gay, bisexual, pansexual, kinky, asexual, transgender, or questioning.
In addition to traditional psychotherapy, I am an author, educator, consultant, and the current President of the Psychodynamic Couple and Family Institute of New England (PCFINE).
